Dogs Trust Online activities

Muffin's Mix Up

MuffinA fun drawing game for Infant Classes and First and Second Class pupils. A menu system allows pupils to build a dog from different heads, bodies and tails before naming and printing their creation. Pupils develop their fine motor skills using the mouse to explore what happens.

Wordsearch

Three different wordsearch options support English and provide varying challenges for First to Sixth Classes individually, in pairs or groups. The screens are interactive and can be completed in real time. Also ideal for whole-class use if an interactive whiteboard is available.

Virtual Walk

ZippyA simple 'turtle graphics' game for Senior Infants to Sixth Class, supporting planning and giving instructions in real time or as a sequence to control the direction of a dog walker. Three different settings offer differing levels of difficulty.

Zippy Kit

Second to Sixth Class pupils explore real-time money in small and large amounts as they find out about the cost of responsible dog ownership in an interactive shop. Uses operations to solve word and figure problems involving money.

Pup Idol

RosieAn online xylophone for Infants to Sixth Class pupils which can play their compositions as notes, barks and howls and even record in real time. The keyboard includes two complete octaves and so the opportunities for playing favourite or new tunes are limitless.

Doggy Database

Infants to Sixth Class pupils can use an interactive database to find out about different breeds of dog and choose the best dogs for a range of characters, developing their data handling and decision-making skills with written and numerical information. A downloadable extension activity allows pupils to create new characters and add their own dog information. (The extension activity has three elements - a worksheet, factsheets and a spreadsheet.)

Pairs

FlickA fun test of memory for Senior Infants to Sixth Class pupils. Pupils have to select pairs of cards to see if they match. Pupils can choose from dog breeds or useful things that are needed by a responsible dog owner, developing their memory and motor skills in the process.

Fetch

FlickAn interactive game for Senior Infants to Sixth Class pupils, who must position their dog in the right place to catch the ball as it bounces across the screen. Pupils must use their knowledge of how fast the dog can run in order to set it off at the right time as they explore the simulation.

Doggy Treats - Co-ordinates

A co-ordinates activity where Third to Sixth Class pupils are challenged to find hidden dog treats. Pupils can play on their own, or competitively in pairs. Alternatively, the whole class can help if an interactive whiteboard is available. A downloadable extension activity allows pupils to design their own version of the game.

FlickThis lively and engaging 10-minute film from Dogs Trust can be used in a number of ways – as a stand alone teaching resource, as an introduction to the overall theme of taking responsibility for our pets or to complement the free Dogs Trust Infants to Sixth Class pupils English & Maths resource.
